Greenlance Sustainability: Powering a Greener Future with Electric Bik | Greenlance Limited

Greenlance Sustainability

At Greenlance, we are committed to fostering a sustainable future through our innovative recycling program. Our Greenlance Sustainability initiative focuses on the responsible recycling of key materials used in electric bike batteries. By recycling these materials, we not only reduce environmental impact but also contribute to the creation of new, high-quality products.

Here are the materials we recycle:

Lithium Battery Shred

Lithium Battery Shred consists of the fragmented remains of used lithium batteries. This shredded material is a mixture of various components including metal, plastic, and electrolyte residues. The recycling process separates and refines these components, extracting valuable materials for reuse in the production of new batteries and other products.

Metal Foils

Metal foils, typically made from aluminum or copper, are essential components of battery cells. These thin sheets of metal are used as current collectors in batteries. Recycling metal foils involves recovering these metals to be reprocessed and reused, significantly reducing the need for new raw materials and lowering the environmental footprint of battery production.

Plastic Separator

The plastic separator is a critical part of the battery that keeps the anode and cathode apart, preventing short circuits while allowing ions to pass through. These separators are made from high-quality, heat-resistant plastic. Recycling them involves breaking down the plastic and reusing it in various applications, reducing plastic waste and conserving resources.

Blackmass

Blackmass is a complex mixture of valuable metals like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese, derived from the processed remnants of used batteries. This material is rich in essential elements required for new battery production. By recycling blackmass, we can recover and reuse these critical metals, ensuring a sustainable supply chain for future battery manufacturing.

Copper Powder

Copper powder is recovered from the recycling of battery components, particularly from the metal foils and other copper-containing parts. This fine powder is a valuable resource in many industrial applications, including new battery production. Recycling copper powder reduces the demand for virgin copper, conserving natural resources and minimizing environmental impact.

Greenlance has partnered with Lithium Battery Recycling Solutions (Part of Cawleys) To ensure that battery cells which are no longer reusable can be recycled in a safe way for the environment.
